Undiscovered Amalfi Coast

2/28/2023

While the 34-miles of pristine sand along the Amalfi Coast attract plenty of tourists, this stunning region of Italy also boasts countless off-the-beaten-path treasures just waiting to be discovered. From uncluttered stretches of sand and towering cliffs to charming seaside towns, the secret gems of the Amalfi Coast are also surprisingly easy to reach.

Enjoy the Coastline

Nestled beneath clusters of cliff-hugging fisherman houses, Furore is the region's only fjord, a narrow inlet sandwiched between high cliffs that end in a small beach. Overhead a striking arched bridge connects two soaring outcrops and is one of the area's main focal points. The picture-perfect pocket of sand is accessible by a steep flight of stone steps, which only adds to its charm and air of mystery.
Hop on a boat to visit Li Galli, a small archipelago just off the Amalfi Coast that comprises the islets of Gallo Lungo, La Castelluccia and La Rotonda. Also known as the Sirenuse Islands, this area is said to have once been home to half-woman half-bird creatures from Greek mythology. While over the years, the allure of Li Galli has attracted a slew of actors, painters, and dancers, today the archipelago is a part of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella.
Indulge in Cultural and Culinary Delights

Shift down a gear in Ravello, a quaint town known for its art galleries and delectable cuisine. Perched 1,200 feet above the Tyrrhenian Sea, Ravello’s claim to fame is the Moorish-style Villa Rufolo and its terraced gardens with stunning vistas of the coastline. Meander down the narrow lanes of this enchanting town to discover its fascinating hole-in-the-wall galleries and cozy restaurants that run the gamut from cheap and cheerful to Michelin-starred.
The Amalfi Coast is famous for its cheese-making, lemon orchids and olive groves. Join a Sorrento Farm Experience to indulge your tastebuds with the flavors of regional specialties like limoncello (Italian lemon liqueur). The excursion takes in a family-run farm that produces its cheese and artisan salami and a traditional pizzeria where participants can try their hand at making authentic Italian pizza.
Get Active

No visit to the Amalfi Coast would be complete without donning a pair of goggles and a snorkel to explore its underwater world. The seascapes of the area's grottoes (caves) - including the Blue Grotto, the Green Grotto, and the White Grotto - are peppered with colorful marine life, including octopuses, gropers, and morays, as well as vegetation such as sea tomatoes and bright black sea urchins.
Leave the water behind for the lush forests and rolling hills of Ferriere Valley. Criss-crossed by multiple hiking trails, the nature reserve is characterized by its subtropical microclimate and majestic moss walls that have been petrified into living stalactites. The valley is also home to abandoned mills and countless waterfalls and streams where visitors can seek respite after a busy day of sightseeing.
Whether from a hammock, a kayak, or the peak of a mountain, the Amalfi Coast delivers unforgettable memories. Get in touch today to help us put you in this picture-perfect setting.
